Roundabout, Harpenden Mencap's charity shop, is in Southdown and greatly assists the Society's fundraising efforts.

Staffed by managers and volunteers, this popular shop in Southdown is an important source of income for Harpenden Mencap.
In addition, support staff lead the training of our learning disabled people in the task of checking and sorting the goods
that have been donated.

Volunteering OpportunitiesHarpenden Mencap employs managers who are assisted by volunteers in the running of the shop, and these people are very
skilled at making the most of all the donations that are given to us. We would like to thank all the volunteers who give
of their time so generously and help the Society in fulfilling its aims and objectives.

The Roundabout shop is also a way for Harpenden Mencap to support the Occupational Opportunities programme.
Within the shop, support workers work alongside people with a learning disability, empowering those with a disability
to learn the wide range of skills
needed to become a volunteer within the shop, or
in the case of those people who not yet ready to work with an employment agency (such as Employment Direct), to help equip
them with the skills to think about working towards paid or voluntary work with other employers.
Trainees work within all aspects of the shop role.
